Encore

Encore Fitness is not your typical workout space. First, it’s in the historic Concrete Theatre, which adds to the drama! Second, it’s not a gym with equipment, monthly memberships, sweaty bodybuilders, or glitzy mirrors and locker rooms! (sorry, those are all fun, but it’s not the way we roll!). Third, it’s sort of a private party, where people join by invitation or through a referral from a current member.

We aren’t trying to be exclusive — it’s just we’re a small place with spots for 5-8 people. We are all women, and just a few good men occasionally! Our schedule is very fluid and flexible. If we’re all busy with other pursuits, or if the theatre is being used for a special event, we cancel our workouts.

We realize this is not a “health club” but those of us who’ve been working out together since 2009 are healthier and happier than most people!

JUNE 2025 
Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. (except June 17)
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m.
Fridays at 6:00 a.m.

I’ve been teaching fitness for 40 years – everything from high impact aerobics in the 80s, to weight-training, dance fitness, and interval training these days. In addition to owning fitness studios in several locations (on Whidbey Island and here in Concrete), I’ve also taught classes in Anacortes and Sedro-Woolley. For three decades I also taught Wellness and Physical Fitness at Skagit Valley College.

My favorites things?
• Moving to music of all kinds.
• Seeing people change their lives through fitness.
• Working out with women who are committed to their health.
• Using new technology, techniques, tools, and toys that help us exercise more efficiently and keep our workouts fun!
