Registration is now open for this circus-like adventure, for 4 days this summer: July 13 -16, 2026.
Camp Details:
- Schedule: Camp runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
- Age Requirements : Open to kids in grades 3-5.
- Performance: The kids will perform for family and friends on Thursday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m. Free admission
- Bring-Along: Kids should bring a Water Bottle, Sack Lunch & Snacks in a backpack marked with their name.
- Ice Cream Parties: Summer Camp Kids get 2 ice cream parties in Act One Ice Cream Parlor.
- Adults: We welcome your help with creating costumes and props — and with rehearsals at home!

About the Play, THE BIG TOP
Something is fishy about this circus! The elephants are loose, the ropes are greased, and an acrobat has fallen! Detective Alfredo is here to solve the mystery, but he is afraid of clowns! In this hilarious mystery, kids will meet some quirky characters and enjoy being sucked into the wacky and wonderful world of the circus.
Depending on the campers’ interests and abilities, there will be lots of movement opportunities.
Registration Information:
- Registration Fee: $225
- Deposit: A deposit of $50 is required to secure your child’s place. Please pay by check with your registration form. (If the theatre needs to cancel camp for any reason, your check will be returned/destroyed.)
- Mail your check and registration form to Concrete Theatre, PO Box 954, Concrete, WA 98237 or drop off at Act One Ice Cream Parlor, Noon to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and Noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Our Production Team:
Valerie Stafford, M.S. – Producer/Director
Owner of the Historic Concrete Theatre since 2009, Valerie directs this year’s production and guides campers through every step of bringing the show to life. Valerie has created and directed numerous events and productions at the theatre and in the community. She taught health and wellness at Skagit Valley College for 30 years and before that – many moons ago – led “Concrete Playschool.” IYKYK.
Jessica Massingale – Stage Manager
Jessica keeps rehearsals running smoothly, managing schedules, cues, and backstage details so campers feel supported and ready when the curtain goes up. She teaches 3rd grade at Concrete Elementary and is key to a successful production.
Elinor Nakis – Props & Costumes
Elinor creates and organizes the props and costumes for our show, helping each camper look the part and feel confident onstage. Elinor is a multi-talented seamstress and artist who helped with the show last year and is excited to do it again.
Doug Ernst – Advisor
Doug is a retired elementary school teacher who’s also no stranger to the stage — and he’s performed in a circus! Who wants to learn to juggle?!
Maureen Ford – Assistant
Maureen is a well-known volunteer in our community, an experienced event planner with the ability to stay calm and positive, even in a circus.
Laura Rohrman, the creator of The Big Top, is a playwright and actress who grew up in Northern California and moved to New York City to pursue playwriting many years ago. She is the founder of Playwriting for Kids, a specialized program where kids write and perform their own plays. Laura’s plays have been produced all over the world. She is published by Smith and Kraus. MFA: New School for Drama.
