How the Artsfund Grant benefits our Community

It’s official: The Concrete Theatre ArtsFund grant award has been confirmed for our venue! This is huge for our little corner of the Upper Skagit—we’re seriously grateful and excited. It’s nice to be noticed by folks who believe in the power of local arts and community. The grant is part of $10 million awarded statewide to organizations big and small, all working to keep arts and culture alive in every Washington community.

Why this Funding Matters

Unlike so many grants, this one gives us the freedom to spend funds where they’re needed most. For the Theatre, that means upgrading equipment, supporting new programming, and fueling creative energy that benefits everyone. Unrestricted funding lets us focus on the big picture: keeping our doors open, welcoming audiences, and finding new ways to connect with our neighbors through movies, music, and events.

Our Goals for this Funding

We’re excited to put this support toward a new series of variety shows that celebrate Concrete—its past, present, and what’s ahead. These programs might feature film, live music, storytelling in the spirit of The Moth, short theatrical pieces, or even dance. We want to experiment with different formats and creative talents, making space for voices and stories that matter to our community. It’s all about bringing people together and sharing the richness of our local culture in fresh, fun ways.

Arts and Community in Concrete, WA

Our spot in Concrete, WA, is small but mighty. Over the years, we’ve welcomed people from all over—families seeking entertainment, old friends catching up, new faces discovering what small-town creativity looks like. This grant helps ensure we can keep the lights on, while continuing to offer accessible, fun experiences for everyone. It’s recognition that even rural communities like ours matter in Washington’s creative landscape.
